Iron Pour 2009
A Family Event….All Ages!
The final result is a block (8”X8”) that displays your artistic creation in solid iron….the process is the fun part! In a block of sand you carve, chisel, and blow away sand to create your design (could be a picture of your dog, house number, favorite quote, your footprint, biblical image………). This year, on September 12th only we also offer you the chance to create a molded design out of a clay-like substance. Kelly and his team will take back your finished product, pour sand around it- pull the mold out and you will have a 3-D space to fill with Iron! Then, drum roll please, on the September 26th the foundry experts and their big fiery furnace arrive in town and stoke it up. Iron is melted! At dusk, they pour the red hot iron into the molds created, by you & you & you….. During the spectacle we hear great music and have scrumptious food to eat. When the evening is over, and the final sparks fly, you can check on your piece. When it is cool you can take it home to admire it forever! A great gift idea for grandparents, grandchildren, neighbors,…..
